Collagen supplement for skin health

Many marketing efforts have led us to the assumption that high collagen content in food and/or supplements directly translates to skin health.


Although foods rich in amino acids (the building blocks of collagen) can support collagen production in the body, simply consuming collagen-rich foods or collagen supplements does not guarantee improved skin elasticity or appearance.


Your body is smart, and is going to use these building blocks wherever is needed most. There is no signal built in to a collagen supplement that tells it to go to the skin on your face.


Consuming collagen is a healthy habit. It’s a vital protein and body’s need protein. But, any type of protein consumption will  offer the same result. You don’t have to fork out extra $$$ on buying specific supplements marketed to boost collagen.


Moral of the story…your body needs protein. Protein is protein, regardless of the source!
